Woodland Ways Char Cloth Making Kit

Woodland Ways Char Cloth Making Kit

You can make char cloth from a variety of different materials, cotton works the best, denim jeans or an old cotton T-shirt. Char cloth is made in a similar way to making charcoal, the material is heated or charred to drive out all the moisture whilst not allowing it to combust. 


This kit contains a tin with a tight fitting lid for charing the cloth, a length of cotton cloth approx 1m x 22cm and a detailed step by step instruction card on how to do it. 

You will only need to make a stopper or bung to plug the hole in the lid, this can be easily fashioned from a stick. 

Making your own char cloth is much more cost efficient than buying pre charred tins of cloth as you can make a larger quantity all in one go and you can use your old worn out cotton clothing to make it! It's also a great introductory skill to get young people interested in Bushcraft.
